Mao – Habbo X Ambassador and Discord Moderator

@neon_ipod:

Thank you Mao for accepting this interview invite with us !

First, for those who don’t know about you, can you tell us something about you?

Hmm, hi! There’s not much to know about me. My name is Mao and I came with my family from Germany to Spain when I was a child; and here I am. Thank you for this interview and thanks to everyone who reads until the end.

How long have you been a Habbo player and on which hotel?

I signed up to .ES in 2006 at my friend’s house because she got some credits for free with her magazine (good ol’ marketing days!), and have been on and off (more on than off) ever since.

What’s your favorite activity to spend your time on, on your hotel?

I absolutely LOVE trivia races – it’s my favorite game ever. They don’t usually host anymore, so I also like getting the badges from official games & fansite events and, of course, the ones from our community partners’.

What interested you the most of the Habbo NFT project?

I used to join crypto Twitter giveaways and first heard about NFTs in there, they were just popping off. When Habbo announced it I was very excited to see what this project was going to be about. It was all very new to almost everyone.

How did you get involved first into the Habbo NFT project?

As soon as they opened the Discord server I joined to see, stay informed, and try to help if I could. I didn’t have enough ETH, but luckily got an Avatar through the community giveaway they did for active Habbos, and have been using it and its valuable perks since they gave it to me. Thank you so much Habbo NFT!

What has been the best part about being a moderator to this project and what do you find challenging?

For me, being a moderator is not that different to when I wasn’t. I still try to reply to all the questions I know the answer to, but I guess the best part is learning about the things I didn’t know about, and by searching the info to give it to the user in need I get some knowledge myself too on those topics. Maybe the most challenging part is when people keep arguing about nonsense, escalate it to a point just before crossing the line, and not listening when you please ask them to stop. This is about to change, hopefully.

If you could add a new feature to the Habbo NFT project what would you add?

I guess it’s something that’s already in their plans. A Marketplace similar to what we have on legacy Habbo hotels but for our NFTs is what I think we need in Habbo X.

Is there a favorite memory that comes to your mind from the Habbo NFT community?

Hmmm no, not really; there are very good memories almost every single week and I can’t think of any specifically. Gartic drawings and guesses can sometimes be very very funny. One of the memes that comes to my mind is Mamakevin’s spaghetti. Palsternakka’s treasure hunts are super entertaining and fun. We try to have a good time all the time.

What’s your favorite avatar, portrait and furni from the collection?

Avatars are all so different and amazing that I can’t pick! And now with trait editing coming I can’t just say one number. I really love steampunks, aliens & zombies, and for portraits these as well. I also don’t have a favorite furni, but I like the bronze holo, the first NFT for a lot of people who got it airdropped for free and got to know more about the crypto world thanks to this. And because it’s a steamy, duh!

Other than spending time on the Habbo community what other Hobbies do you enjoy doing?

As a hobby I like wasting my time watching YouTube videos about music, travel, tech… but also medicine, maths, science in general, so that doesn’t count as a time-waste because I’m learning, ok? And even though I don’t support having wild animals as pets, I love this Japanese channel about an otter named Kotaro.

And finally, the question I ask on every interview…. If you could design the next NFT furni what would it be?

The roller was an absolute success! I’d love to see more interactive things, not just static stuff but furni we can use, like: those which give in-room effects, one furni that completely transforms itself when stepped on or used, a lever/button, one-way gates, a nice background or -even better- a machine showing something cooler than clouds, a beautiful tree…
